At Wise Beginning, we offer humanistic counselling – supporting you to connect with your inner wisdom, while providing tools and strategies to help you navigate challenging times.
Based in West End, Brisbane, I offer in-person counselling, as well as online counselling for people across Australia and globally. Sessions are available in English and Spanish.
What to expect from Counselling at Wise Beginning, Brisbane
Counselling provides an opportunity to explore your concerns in a safe and supported environment, to gain an understanding of factors that are influencing your situation, then build the resources and tools to improve your situation. However, when it comes to chronic or severe mental health conditions like major depressive disorder, severe anxiety disorders, or more complex self-esteem issues rooted in deep psychological trauma, ADHD symptoms, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, self-harming, etc., counselling will not be sufficient. These conditions often require a more comprehensive treatment approach, such as an Informed-Trauma approach psychotherapyComing to Counselling can be daunting. You may be feeling anxious about it and even unsure if Counselling can help.

As your Counsellor, Alpha uses a humanistic and experiential approach, based on the attachment science perspective on human functioning. This attachment science-based approach to individual therapy, like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gestalt Therapy (GT), is focused on reshaping intrapsychic experience and reshaping patterns of engagement with significant others, to support life balance and wellbeing in the present.
During the sessions, a respectful and safe environment will be built to offer transformative moments where vulnerability is encountered with balance, enabling you to become more open and responsive to make full contact with your needs and engagement that characterises secure attachment with others.
Progress
It can take time to create change and see permanent results; however, some level of significant progress after about three sessions is possible.
